I'm still trying to find the exact items that stayed in the compromise bill, but the following seemingly innocuous statement is scaring the hell out of me:
Health: The plan includes subsidies to allow people who are laid off to purchase health insurance through the federal COBRA plan. There is also money to support hospitals seeking to modernize health information technology.

It sounds like the Orwellian crap I wrote about in "Rank Tyranny" is still in play. This means Federal Government control over what procedures your doctor is allowed to perform on you. That's right - healthcare rationing. A bureaucrat gets to make your life and death decisions.
I'll be keeping an eye out for a copy of the compromise, but at this point, we may be lost.
